Landmarks & Architecture
The Jersey Shore is full of beauty. Its architecture and landmarks are something to behold. Jersey Shore photographers know this well, and have captured area landmarks and architecture in a compelling way. Our editors set out to highlight a few of the best photographs featuring classic landmarks and unique architectural details, but they couldn't pick just a few. The result is a showcase that features more than 50 photos. Sit back, relax and enjoy Jersey Shore beauty in buildings and landmarks.
What is a showcase? As a part of the Capture Jersey Shore experience, our editors will select photos from time to time and feature them in a showcase like you see here. A showcase is a digital publication of a collection of photos curated by our editors. Enjoy!

I am usually not a fan of lighthouse photos, but there is something just a bit macabre in this one with all the dark overtones that I really like. See comment

Winter at Sandy Hook
Sitting at the northern end of the Jersey Shore, the Sandy Hook lighthouse is the oldest operating lighthouse in the country. I like going to the top as you can see the skyline of NYC & the ocean. I also like it because when you're at the top you see how far from the tip of Sandy Hook it actually is & gives one a sense of the currents & tidal force that shape or shoreline.

Tent City
Ocean Grove, NJ In the early days of Ocean Grove tents were the predominant shelter for visitors. Today, 114 tent structures can be seen nestled around The Great Auditorium. Some of the tent owners are descendents of early Ocean Grove families, passing the tradition from generation to generation. Until 1980, the town gates were closed and chained from midnight Saturday until midnight Sunday. No vehicles of any kind were permitted on the Sabbath. The same year, the courts ruled that there was a conflict between church & state and the gates must remain open."
